Biology 1090
For the signature assignment in this class, we were assigned to find three scientific articles that were related to what we talked about in class this semester. The three articles that I chose were
1. Researchers advance genome editing of blood stem cells
2. Difference between facial growth of Neanderthals and modern humans
3. New research could help in the fight against infection, cancer, and allergies
It was really cool to read these 3 different articles because usually, when I've read scientific articles in the past I've been clueless to what they were talking about. However, after taking this class and reading some of these, I understood what they were talking about. For example, article number 1 talks about messenger RNA and I got really excited because I know what that is and what it does and it helped me to understand what the experiment was that they did.
I liked the savvy reader paper as well. Reading through that in comparison to the articles helped me to understand how credible the articles were and what they were missing. The taking sides report helped me to do that as well, especially with the logical errors part. It helps to think of the concepts talked about more clearly and really think if it makes sense. It was also interesting looking up these things on the internet and becoming a little more informed on what is going on out there.
